Low Nitrogen Enhances Nitrogen Use Efficiency by Triggering NO3- Uptake and Its Long-Distance Translocation

It is known that nitrogen is critical for plant growth and crop productivity, but it is also known that as the supply of nitrogen increases, the fraction of applied nitrogen that is absorbed and used by the plant decreases, which results in wasted resources.

Thus, scientists such as the ones in this study have been looking to improve a plant's ability to utilize nitrogen and enhance environmental sustainability. This study provided new insights into the mechanisms by which plants adapt to the environment by improving photosynthesis under low nitrogen and the efficiency of nitrogen use.
