Evolution of chloroplast retrograde signaling facilitates green plant adaptation to land

Screening and manufacturing drought-tolerant plant varieties through biotechnology can effectively improve the drought tolerance of crops and reduce food losses caused by natural disasters. At the same time, land in arid and semi-arid areas can be used more efficiently to increase crop yields.

This study investigates how plants have evolved over time to survive climate changes over the years. Understanding the molecular mechanisms in which these changes occur, can help scientists create new varieties of crops that will survive in overly dry areas.
